I am unable to access the image gallery in my post (edit mode) since I was upgraded to 4.0.

Until now when I created a gallery I could go in and add to it or delete it in visual mode. Now all I can do is go in and delete the shortcode in text and start over.
This could be a theme issue, but they’ll tell me it is a WP issue.

Did you try with a different theme, like the default 2014?

My site only works in my theme. I am customized and while I desperately want to get into a plain old everyday theme I don’t really know how.

I took a Lynda course on this and still can’t figure it out.

It’s a basic troubleshooting step, themes can interfere exactly as you describe. If you can edit or delete a gallery while the Twenty Fourteen theme is enable, then we know what to look at (your current theme).

I will let themify know. But I don’t have time to mess up my site and then try to fix it.

Well. You kind of just go for it. Pick a theme, install, switch to it.

I have the same problem: Not able to edit or to delete galleries.
I have a customized thematic theme. I tried with twenty fourteen without success.
In a different installation with similar conditions it works?!?

I deactivated all Plugins … no success

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

Themify upgraded the theme and now it seems to work again.

But this completely sidesteps the fact that the upgrade broke this feature, not the themes that were working perfectly well beforehand.

I use WooThemes’ Canvas for one site, which wasn’t cheap. I use three other themes from three different sources on other sites.

All of the themes have been updated. All of them no longer allow editing of photo galleries.

The only option is to delete the page or post and recreate it.

Now that’s what I call progress!

Blaming this on themes is like blaming the world financial collapse on the pensioners.

I followed MacManX’s instructions – with no success

Strange: I started two very similar installations (same theme / different hosters) some days ago. One works, one works not.

I will roll back zu 3.9 and wait, until a solution ist found.

Excellent, thanks for sharing your solution!

But this completely sidesteps the fact that the upgrade BROKE this feature

Not necessarily, I’m not having the reported problem on any of my blogs, so the upgrade didn’t break the feature. This is pretty much why everyone is welcome to try the Beta and Release Candidate builds available up to a month before the final release, especially theme and plugin developers.

I use WooThemes’ Canvas for one site, which wasn’t cheap. . . Blaming this on themes is like blaming the world financial collapse on the pensioners.

So, think about that for a second. ?? WordPress is free software developed by volunteers, WooThemes Canvas is a $119 theme developed by employees of WooThemes. Which one do you think is more responsible to try the freely available Beta builds before the final release and correct any issues they encounter?

You can present the issue to WooThemes via https://support.woothemes.com/hc/en-us

I started two very similar installations (same theme / different hosters) some days ago. One works, one works not.

Are there any plugin differences between the sites, or is the host the only difference?

I don’t use WooTHemes. I use Themify. THe stuff works or doesn’t and it is very upsetting to have one’s site broken. But, I’m not going to argue about it.

As long as Themify fixed it, you’re in good hands. ??
