When I click “edit” on an Event, the page loads with the “Text” editor enabled by default and I can edit the description. If I try to switch to the “Visual” editor it goes blank and I cannot edit it – even if I try to switch back to the “Text” editor.

For other user, when they click “Edit,” the Event is loading with the visual editor enabled by default thus they get a white space and are unable to edit the description.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I also have this problem. Am running WP 4.8.1 and Event List 0.7.9. Also occurs in 0.7.8.

Immediate cause is the CSS on the textarea having ‘visibility:hidden;’ or ‘color:#fff;’ or ‘display:none;’ or some combination set. But even if you override these the basic functionality of the editor does not operate correctly.

Wordpress edits normal Pages OK. Nevertheless is this in fact a WordPress bug, since it is the WordPress editor malfunctioning?

I have the same problem (Event List 0.7.9 and WP 4.8.1, GeneratePress 1.4 / Exhibit 1.04 theme, GP Premium plugin 1.4.3). I know I haven’t provided further debugging information (can’t add to the input above), I only stated that I need a fix pretty badly. Still —?I find it rather insulting if you delete my input without contacting me / telling me why —?do you prefer me to give the plugin a bad rating???

I have noticed the following comment on the WordPress support forum for 4.8.1. I don’t know if it is relevant.

“Editor tools are not showing as expected in WordPress 4.8.1 – Our editor, TinyMCE, was updated in this release, so your plugin or theme may need to be updated to reflect this change”

    Hi Tony,

yes, that makes sense —?it was around the upgrade to WP 4.8.1 when the Events List editor fell apart. Initially I wasn’t quite sure about the association, as at the same time, the GP Premium plugin was updated at my site.

Turns out, the latest Jetpack update (v.5.3) fixed the issue—all is fine again, as far as I can tell, i.e., the editor works again as it did before (looks like Jetpack 5.2.x had an incompatibility with WP 4.8.1, which caused plugins using TinyMCE for editing to fail).

Well well well – who’d ‘a thought it?

Just to say it is now working for me too.
