• While in the admin section I go to delete post and it takes it off the screen but then when I go to view page it says…

“Are you sure you want to navigate away from the current page?”

It’s like the file has not finished being deleted but it says done and its no longer on the admin screen so I navigate away from the page and its still on my blog. Even when I go back into the admin section its there again.

has anyone had this problem or know how I can fix it without having to create another blog?

    Thanks

edit** I have a few websites… seems to do this with the new version of WP

  • I have the exact same problem you are experiencing. I have cleared cookies, disabled all plugins, switched back to the default template, and accessed the site from three different browsers on two different machines but still have the same problem.

I wonder if this could be a hosting issue, perhaps a php or mysql setting (just reaching here)?

Least I’m not the only one.. only way I found a way around the problem was to edit the posts instead of deleting them. Strange how we can edit the post but can’t delete.

Anyone else know how this can be fixed?

This inability to delete posts just became apparent as we were doing a shakedown cruise on our new install of 2.1 today. When ‘delete’ is selected the entry is removed from the admin “manage” page, but not from the blog, and next time I navigate back to the manage posts page, it’s back in the list of postings.

I suspected this might be a MySQL problem, but when I used phpAdmin to check the database, it showed no errors. An entry can of course be deleted from the database directly, but that’s not really the way I’d want to do it.

It is also not caused by code in the theme. I changed the active theme but still have the same problem.

Another workaround I found was going into the edit mode and changing the post to a draft, which removed it from public display.

Great Idea Mitch thanks for the help. This will do fine till a new version or a cure for the bug comes out.

    Thanks ??

I’m also having this problem. Can’t delete posts or categories. Posts can be worked around by making them drafts, but is there a similar workaround for categories? I’m tempted to try a fresh install. My problem started just after a 2.1 upgrade via Fantastico.

Similar problem here. I cannot delete posts. I cannot delete them by editing and selecting remove there (you said it helped for you).

Only way to get around is to change the post to a draft which is not a good solution.

I have this problem since updating from 2.0.8 to 2.1.1.

Using 2.3.1 and having the exact same problem.

Also, having the problem where any new post made using the visual editor appears with the title but no content.

Are there any real fixes to these issues or just a bunch of annoying, cumbersome work arounds?

I am having similar issues in more ways than in posts.

    1. cannot add users as admin (but admin can edit after someone registers on their own)

    2. admin cannot delete old drafts, get message “you cannot do that”

    3. have trouble initiating the first save of a post
“are you sure you wan to edit?” yes
    “oops nothing there”
Then I go back to the wirting page and save and continue editing a second time and go thru same process and click back to find it has been saved in drafts and then can continue to work on it and eventually post.

    4. I think something happened as I upgraded from WP 204 to WP 230 anf then did auto upgrade to 231. It “feels” like it doesn’t let the new “admin” user delete or change settings from previous “admin” from the earlier versions config???

ALSO, the guy who helps me with this on a windows laptop says he has no problem. of course I am using Mac OSX 10.5

So much for the promise of cross-platform compatibility in blogging?
