Cannot create Static Homepage

  • I made a static homepage and it worked for a long time but now it doesn’t. When I’m in Settings>Reading and select the page I want for my static homepage then hit Save Changes, the selection for FRONTPAGE: reverts back to “MAIN PAGE (no parent)”.

    Because of this, when a visitor comes to my site they don’t get taken to the Homepage where all my “Welcome” text is, all they see is text saying;
    “Not Found
    Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.”, followed by a search box.

    Does anybody know how I can correct this so it works again?
