Just like a similar post by another member, this is happening on multiple sites I manage now. It Only happens with the latest version of the plugin. All previous versions works but as soon as you update to latest version of nextgen, error occurs. All sites are running Avada.

Could not write to file. Please check filesystem permissions. Filename: /home/content/a2pewpnaspod04_data04/34/41290634/html/wp-content/gallery/teset3/…..

When I try to create a new gallery, the image UL fails and the screen just fades and clears. The gallery was previously working fine and I have several working galleries on the site.
I have tried the following steps:
    1. Ensured both /wp-content directory and gallery folder have proper permissions
    2. Reset WordPress permalinks
    3. Shut off all other plugins to ensure no interference
    4. Cleared browser cache and Nextgen cache
    5. Tried default WP theme
    6. WP and all plugins are 100% up to date
    7. I have run a malware scan
    8. I have checked the php.ini and its set to 128mb memory
I can’t think of anything else to try, any thoughts?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@gonsurfn77 – I would suspect this is something consistent (and possible unique to) with your sites since the latest release of NextGEN Gallery has been available since = V2.2.14 - 09.18.2017 =

Unfortunately, given the description of the troubleshooting you have tried I can only suggest looking to something outside of the WordPress installation (system/site cache?) and/or inactive plugin artifacts still affecting the site (cache, security, etc. type plugins can do this).

    Thanks!

I too am having a problem uploading getting a “could not write to file check your permission etc…”

Other plugins have not had an issue so I would like to know where nextgen creates its directories.

    The uploads folder is:

    drwxrwxr-x apache:apache – this should suffice

OK, found the directory, it’s not the uploads directory, however, it’s in the root of wp-content, so permissions need to be set for that as well, at least until [gallery] can be created

    public_html/wp-content/gallery/

    permissions which worked:
    drwxrwxr-x apache:apache (apache in my case) 755

@jhanjon – Thanks for sharing, again, although it may be best to start your own topics as needed.
