When I try to add a new category (whether via Write Post or Categories), it doesn’t work. Clicking Add Category simply erases the category information I entered.
There is no error. The page does not refresh. The information I typed in simply disappears.
It’s as if the “Add Category” button serves as a “clear field” function. It’s the same as if I typed this message, clicked Send Post, and instead of my post being posted, my message simply disappeared as if I never typed it in. It goes to no new page, doesn’t reload, it just deletes the field.
I’m using WordPress 2.2.1.
I’ve tried removing the www (as some other posts have suggested). It makes no difference.
I’ve tried it in IE, Opera, FireFox, and Safari. Problem works exactly the same in each.
I’ve refreshed the cache, deleted cookies, etc. Problem still exists.
Here is the problem step by step:
Step 1: Go to Manage > Categories.
Step 2: Next to Category name I enter “test” (no quotes)
Step 3: Next to Category Slug I enter “test” (no quotes)
Step 4: I click Add Category.
Immediately the words “test” in Category name and Category Slug erase upon pressing Add Category. The page does not refresh. The fields simply clear to a blank slate.
The same thing happens when I try to add a category to the Write Post page.
Now if I’m on the Manage Categories page and I EDIT a current category, I can change the name, etc. I just can’t add any new categories.
This seems to be a prominent bug. A lot of people are reporting it. Does anyone have any advice? I’ve read every post on this subject and have yet to find a solution for me (outside of downgrading, which some others have had to do).
I appreciate any help you can give in solving this problem. Thank you!
