Cannot create a user with an empty login name via Google Auth?

LDAP auth works fine, but the google auth seems to complain.
“Cannot create a user with an empty login name”
Oddly, it worked initially.
Thoughts? I’m new to wordpress from Joomla, so hopefully this is a correctable self-inflicted wound.
