• Currently, we are not able to edit or create pages on our website. The front end is fine, but I either get or a page telling me I don’t have persmission even though I am the admin. So far I’ve tested plug-ins and themes via FTP and have found no errors. There is some disconnect in the database that I don’t understand, and I’m not sure when this problem began because the front end looked fine. Here are the steps I’ve taken in the troubleshooting using the website and FTP:
    ? Checked php memory
? Updated themes and plugins. Switched to a default WordPress theme to test.
? Turned off all plugins as a group
    ? Tested the plugins one-by-one
? Switched themes and turned off plugins
    ? Used default .htaccess code
Let me know if you have any other ideas. Thanks!

  • Hi,
I’m just throwing out some thoughts that come to mind:

    What’s your version of WP?
    What version of PHP?
    What are your memory settings?
Can you install new themes and/or plugins?
Do you have the same problem with posts?
Do you have a firewall plugin or service?
Are all themes and plugins up to date?
What does WP site health show?
There is another plugin called health check that is more comprehensive than the built in site health. Try installing that and reviewing the results.
Have you looked at your error logos?
    Turn on WP debugging.

Thanks so much! Can you point me in the right direction for viewing error logs and turning on WP debugging? I’ll check some of my settings. I can install new plugins and themes. It doesn’t like it when I try to make new posts or pages. I either get a blank screen or the message “You are currently editing a page that shows your latest posts.” The themes and plugins are up-to-date. Our current theme is Oshine. I turned off the theme and used a default WP theme, but am getting the same error message.

    Howdy!

One thing that comes to mind would be checking to see if the user actually has the capabilities for that.

I have seen random instances where they are somehow changed. Yeah a bit of a weird one but can happen too.

I checked and the user is good to go. I checked with the author of our theme (Oshine) and he helped troubleshoot editing an existing page using their editor (Tatsu), but still no luck creating a new page.
