Cannot connect to wordpress.com to get JetPack

Hi;

I have started t ocreate a wp site. I installed BitNami on my Mac, running Mavericks.

I installed a theme successfully. The theme needs JetPack. I downloaded and installed that OK. The last step is connecting to WP’s site and I receive this error:

Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible

Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site https://127.0.0.1:8080/wordpress [IXR -32300: transport error: http_request_failed Failed to connect to 127.0.0.1 port 8080: Connection refused]

My firewall is blocking WP’s connection?

Any suggestions appreciated.
