• My host just had a hard drive crash and have to be replaced.

Luckily they back up every 24 hours so 99.9% of my data has been retained.

Im getting an odd issue, however, now that they’ve re-installed and restored.

My site is running fine, all of my blog posts are there, theme is there, everything, however, my wp-admin page is unreachable because a connection to the database cannot be made.

Is this something that sounds familiar? I wasn’t aware this was actually possible given that I only have one db created for this whole site.

    Any tips/suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

  • It’s possible they used a different database name when they had to restore their hardware.

Open your wp-config.php file. This is the file where you would have originally added your database information.

Check the database login details in this file… and verify it with your host.
