    I’m getting the xml_rpc-32700 message

With details saying: Error Details: The Jetpack server could not communicate with your site’s XML-RPC URL. Please check to make sure https://wowcardboard.nl/xmlrpc.php is working properly. It should show ‘XML?RPC server accepts POST requests only.’ on a line by itself when viewed in a browser and should not have any blank links or extra output anywhere.

My xmlrpc.php reads: This function has been disabled

On stack overflow someone mentioned “The problem was a bug in Installatron” without explaining what the bug was or how to fix it.

Since I also used Installatron to install, I guess this is where the problem lies?

    I’m lost, please help!

    Regards

    Thomas

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

That’s indeed the issue here. It seems like your hosting provider disabled access to that file. I’d recommend contacting them, and asking them to allow all connections to your site’s XML-RPC file.

Once this is fixed, you will be able to use Jetpack and other services using XML-RPC, like the mobile apps.

Thanks, Jeremy, for getting back to me.
Is that fixable by changing the permissions of the file? Or could it be fixed through a setting in my DirectAdmin?

    Thanks again!

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

That depends on how your hosting provider blocked access to the file. I’m afraid I can’t really be of more help; you’ll need to ask them.

Got it, I’ll ask my provider, thanks for your help!

I have the same problem on 2 different websites. Checked all the options, i.e. blank spaces, changed permission to 755, but still the same error. On my local xampp based test server, jetpack was smoothly installed and is working fine. I contacted my hosting provider, but like all hosters they react very slowly, or beside the point.

If you have an answer of your hosting provider, please let me now.

I’m experiencing the exact same problem, got the same error message when I accessed xmlrpc.php. Do you also see define('WP_DEBUG', false); in your wp-config.php file? I also changed the permissions, tried to reinstall Jetpack, deactivated plugins, etc… Nothing seems to work, though, and I’ve never experienced this xmlrpc.php problem before on a WordPress site. I will now contact my hosting provider and see what they can do.

The xmlrpc.php file has gone back to normal, thanks to my hosting provider. Unfortunately, I still get the same error when I try to activate Jetpack… Perhaps I should just reinstall WordPress!

@knopenman @rosa Bosma If you still need some help, could you please start your own thread, as per the Forum Welcome?

It would also help if you could let me know your site URL there. If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:

    Thank you!

I eventually decided to reinstall WordPress, and thankfully there have been no issues since. Thank you for the help anyway!
