cannot connect jetpack to wordpress

    This is how I started, first :
    Jetpack by WordPress.com
    Get started with Jetpack Multisite
    Get started managing your Multisite install of Jetpack by connecting.
    Connect to WordPress.com

    I cliked at connect to wordpress.com, and I got the message:

    our website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible

    Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [HTTP 408]. Ask your web host if they allow connections from WordPress.com. If you need further assistance, contact Jetpack Support: https://jetpack.me/support/

    Please help!!

    I checked somebody’s post, tried to deactived all the plugins except jetpack, it didn’t work

    Thanks for clarifying! The reason that you are having trouble connecting is due to the fact that you are working on a localhost setup. Since your site isn’t accessible, Jetpack cannot connect.

    But there is good news! Since the 2.2.1 release, Jetpack has included a Development mode. This mode allows you to use some of Jetpack’s modules without requiring a connection to the WordPress.com servers.

    Thank you very mcuh Ryan, I did according to the instruction and now, when I click jetpack, I got the messages: In Development Mode, via the JETPACK_DEV_DEBUG constant being defined in wp-config.php or elsewhere.

    I suppose this is it, I enabled the development Mode. right?

    That’s the correct message! You won’t be able to use all of Jetpack’s features while working on localhost. But development mode will allow you to use all of the available ones.

    Hi, am having the same issue with my site running on a xammp local host, i just downloaded a Custom css plugin and i can see the custom css but still my menu is just like a mobile view..

    please assist as i need to publish the site very soon
