cannot change user role or permissions

  • i have tried multiple times & also checked if there are any plugins installed that might be conflicting , such as anything else that changes user roles & there is not.

    every time i change the name of the role – i.e. “author” to “company” – it does not save it.

    & when i change the user permissions, it does not save it either,

    it has the latest versions of php installed, because i saw that might be an issue after researching.

    Look if there are any JavaScript error on User Role Editor page after opening or click Update/Rename.

    nothing mentioned on the page at all, i have tried it a few times on different sites, & it is the same each time, it does not same the changes .
