I am unable to back up a new site I created. I use this plugin on many other sites on the same server that have similar configurations, and have never had a problem. On the new site, I set it to back up to Dropbox, and authenticate, but when I try to back up it says “You have chosen to send this backup to remote storage, but no remote storage locations have been selected”
I’ve also tried with Google Drive (authenticate and then try to back up) and I get the same error.
I am running the latest version of WordPress, and the latest version of the plugin.
I have tried de-authenticating and re-authenticating; deleting the plugin and reinstalling, but still get the same error.

    Hi,

To help us work out the cause of your problem, can you please send us a copy of the backup log?
This log can be found in the Existing Backups tab of the UpdraftPlus dashboard.
Please upload the log to cloud storage like Dropbox or Google Drive and share the link with us here.

    Best Wishes,
    Bryle

I don’t think the remote storage backup attempt created a log, because it errors right away. I was able to do a local backup, here is the log for that: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xp65e9120hokmjj/log.ce67e107de1e.txt?dl=0 in case it helps.

Checking in on this, any update?

Also, I created a brand new site, and I am getting the same error. New site has the default theme and no other plugins active.

Again, other sites on the same server with similar setups are able to back up correctly. They were all created and had Dropbox authenticated prior to May 2020. The ones that do not work are sites that were created in May 2020.

This is probably too simple to be your issue, but just in case…

I thought I was having this problem, and then discovered that I’d neglected to check the box under “Send this backup to remote storage (…)”:

The following remote storage options are configured.
    [ ] Google Drive

I think it must be checked by default after the first backup, because I’m not in the habit of doing that for my other site, but when I added UpdraftPlus to another site the box was not checked the first time I tried to run a backup.

Thanks Megan, I hadn’t realized those secondary checkboxes were there! I just checked and backup is working correctly now. Dropbox was already checked so I’m not sure if that was the original problem or not, but it’s possible someone else checked the box since I was last in there.

UpdraftPlus, you might want to make it select one of the remote storage locations by default once you set one up. Or make it more obvious that those secondary checkboxes are there. Or make the error message more helpful ??

    Hi both,

Sorry about the delay on this.

There is currently a bug with the latest release where the secondary checkboxes are not checked by default.

This only affects manual backups, any scheduled backups will work as expected.

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley
