I am having problems updating to the latest version of Twitter Widget Pro like many others. I have read all of the threads on here but none of the solutions work for me.

I get the following error on twitter:

    Whoa there!

The request token for this page is invalid. It may have already been used, or expired because it is too old. Please go back to the site or application that sent you here and try again; it was probably just a mistake.

Here are my settings in the Twitter Developer site:

    Name: Entered
    Description: Entered
    Website: Entered
    Application Type: Read only
    Callback URL: Entered
Allow this application to be used to Sign in with Twitter: Ticked

    On my WordPress site:

The Consumer key and Consumer secret are both entered. I have also tried resetting these to no avail.

    I’m currently using:

    WordPress – Version 3.5.1
Twitter Widget Pro – Version 2.5.2

I’ve got the same problem. Callback URL is entered as site address, Consumer Key and Consumer secret have been copied and pasted without any spaces, all other plugins disabled and I’m getting the error message. The site is in a subfolder – could that cause problems?

    Is this correct?
Allow this application to be used to Sign in with Twitter: Ticked
    From Tejstar.
Has the plugin developer responded at all?
    I’ll try disabling other plug-ins.

It finally worked. I deleted the Genesis latest tweets widget.

FIXED!! It turns out that the site was on a server without CURL enabled. I have moved it to new Linux Hosting and now the authorize account works perfectly. Hope this helps someone else.

After endless trying to get this to work, I’ve given up.

I tried a new plugin ‘Really Simple Twitter Feed Widget’ which worked without any issues. A shame really as I had no issues with Twitter Widget Pro.

Thanks for all of your help dev, hope you manage to find the root cause of this issue.
