Cannot add/edit new posts/pages/new media

  • Hi,

    After an upgrade to 3.8.1 I am unable to add any posts, pages or new media, nor edit any previously existing posts/pages. the ./post-new.php and ./media-new.php, etc., just eternally try to load without an error.

    I have tried the following as suggested in other threads:

    • deactivated all plugins to see if this resolves the problem.
    • switched to the standard wp theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
    • reset the plugins folder through PhpMyAdmin.
    • re-uploaded the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    What else could the problem be?
