• Hello,

Sorry if this topic has been done to death but I have looked through a lot of posts and none seem to apply in my case as I have not got any plug-ins installed and I have not made changes to the permissions on any of my folders in the installation.

Last night I could add pictures to my pages and this morning, when I tried to create a new post and add a picture to it, the button to add an image does nothing. When I go to the media section my picture is in the list and it is attached to my post but when I view the main blog page, there are no pics. When I try to click on the post it gives me the following error:

    400 Bad Request
    nginx

I have no plug-ins installed or activated except the jetpack that was installed with the latest version of WordPress 3.2.1. I have de-activated the plug-in but the same problem still happens.

I have tried on both Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers and the same problem is there. I have even tried on a different computer with a different internet connection and the same problem is there.

The only thing that I have different is that my home page is not the main blog page but a static page. Check out the website https://www.monthemermaid.com but I don’t think this is a problem because I had no problems adding pictures just hours earlier. This is a site I am running for a friend and he is getting a little worried about it as he has a whole book launch attached to the site and needs to have it working reliably so I would like to have it working for him ASAP so any help you can offer would be very much appreciated.

    Hope someone can help….please ??

  • Have you tried switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

It could be a bandwidth issue.

Thanks for your help and quick reolies esmi and johnfotios!

Part of the problem was the theme. I updated my theme and was able to get pics to add to posts as normal so thanks for steering me in the right direction there esmi. I did have to install a plug-in to help me update the theme as it looked like a complicated and messy job without it.

The other problem with the 400 Bad Request Error turned out to be my permalinks setup. I had it set to custom and /year/tags/postname but the few posts I had on at the time did not have tags so when I removed the tags part of the permalinks, it all worked fine.

Hope this helps someone else experiencging similar problems.

Thanks again for your help, my friend is happy his website works again and all is well in the world ??
