Cannot add new categories to certain drop-down menu

  • I’m having a certain product-category widget where I need many categories listed. Suddenly I cannot add more. I tried to count there are about a 1000. Is this the limit for categories you could add to 1 drop-down menu?

    How could I get around this?

    Basically I try to add categories by checking the boxes, then I save and when I go back the boxes are again unchecked.

    There seems to be a limit. How can I solve this for me so I can get more than a 1000 categories listed under 1 widget/drop-down menu?…

    I solved it.

    The issue was the (I think standard) input_max_vars limit for WP_admin (1000), I changed that to a million and now it saves more inputs.
