• after “upgrading” to wp331 I have noticed significant slowdown of access to wp-admin, especially no response whatsoever to clicking on add img icon or even trying to add images via the media–add new menu using ElevenTwenty

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

I have all plugins off using twenty eleven. Even then I see that icons along the top of html post editor don’t even load.

Trying to work with host VPS.net. Using w3TC and cloudflare and vault press but 500 http errors all around.

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – re-running the upgrade via wp-admin/upgrade.php

did all that. wp-admin add image can hardly load. takes for ever to load library. nothing happens when I select select file from computer.

I’m running/managing over a dozen sites using WP 3.3.1 and haven’t had any slowdown problems at all. So whatever this is, it’s specific to your site/server. Have you spoken to your hosts about it?.

VPS.net has been circling the issue for some days now.

Have they come up with anything? How much memory do you have allocated to PHP?

6 days. I updated the ticket four hours ago. That’s what’s going on.

Can anyone speak to dream host dedicated service or another less painful hosting for wordpress?

It is beginning to sound as if your hosting is a little less than perfect (that’s the polite version). Sorry to say it but it might be time to start looking for a new host.

Although we cannot endorse them, there are some hosts listed here. Also searching the forums using the keywords “host” or “hosting” may provide you with some suggestions.
