Sorry but you must upload images to the gallery – > It only recognizes images that have been uploaded to the post.

How it’s possible to be “force” to download the same photo twice just to add it to a gallery. It’s not a good way to work, it’s not clean, it make duplicate image and just junk my upload folder… please get a solution to that. thanks

The gallery can only show images that have been uploaded to the gallery – because its ‘a gallery’ – Images loaded to the WordPress Media Library are just that in a media Library outside the gallery.

The solution is to load the images to the product page. Having images in your media Library and in a Gallery is not a good practice because if you delete the image from your library it is also deleted from the gallery and everywhere else it is in use on your WordPress install for example in a post.

I think the main problem though is that there is no way (as far as I can tell) to access images already loaded to the “GALLERY” to reuse on another product. So if for some reason different products happen to share the same image, I have to keep re-uploading the same image. Even if the image is going to the Gallery, in the long run, this does not appear very economical.

    Steve,

This issue with having to upload the same image for every product that uses it is a major headache for me as well. Doesn’t make sense to have the media folder junked up with repeat files.

As to your point about if you delete it than it deletes it everywhere on the site – I actually think of this as an advantage. If I need to delete a file I always want it deleted everywhere, and can’t think of an exception to this.

Please think about changing this on the next update, I think it would help a lot of people.
