    Hi,

    I’m confounded by this issue.

I’ve got an established WordPress multisite network at netmix.co, which other sites like netmix.com and digitalstrategyworks.com are already working.

First, I added a domain alias for avlhms.com in Plesk under my netmix.co instance.

Then, I go to my WP install and login as super admin and am trying to add a new site, avlhms.com.

I go to Sites > Add New
I add new site with my superadmin user name/email
    I go to netmix.co/avlhms/wp-admin > Tools > Domain Mapping
I enter in the domain, avlhms.com and click primary check box
    I return the following:

You attempted to access the “Netmix.co” dashboard, but you do not currently have privileges on this site. If you believe you should be able to access the “Netmix.co” dashboard, please contact your network administrator.

And, I only return the above if I disable all plugins.

If I do not disable plugins, I return the “You do not have sufficient privileges to access this page” warning.

I already have a number of sites in my network that are working. I just can’t seem to figure out why I can’t add this one.

Two weird thoughts, both theme related.

    1) What’s your default theme for the network? If you didn’t set one, it’s still TwentyFourteen, so make SURE that isn’t deleted! ??

    2) What’s the theme on netmix.co the main site?

Okay, I made sure to Network Activate the Twenty Fourteen Theme.

Then, I made the Twenty Fourteen theme the activated theme on the netmix.co site (primary site in the network).

    I renamed my plugin folder.

I tried to set up the site again. I can add the site:

    https://netmix.co/avlhms/wp-admin

When I try to go to that sites Domain Mapping to add the URL as primary, it still gives me the “You do not have sufficient privileges to access this page.”

Hey moderator…so I’m still trying to get this to work.

    I did the following:

    – I removed all Super Admins except one, which I assigned to the new site before I added the primary domain under the Tools > Domain Mapping sub menu.
    – I disabled all plugins before adding the domain
    – I tried deleting the site multiple times and re-adding
    – I logged out and deleted all cookies, then logged in and tried again

The only thing I haven’t yet tried is changing super admins through the three that I had originally assigned to see if any of them work as the one who has privileges.

This is really confounding, because I can set up the site at https://www.netmix.com/avlhms, but when I go to tick the primary domain and add avlhms.com, I get the You do not have permission sentence.

    I don’t think it’s the super-admin access.

You DO have multiple users with the same email address, though, and that may be throwing things off. WP doesn’t like that. Actually shouldn’t have let you do it…

Can you map the domain via the NETWORK domain settings page?

    Thread Starter Tony Zeoli

    (@tonyzeoli)

Ah, I see I have a few users with the same email address.

Okay, I deleted those users. Updated the network. Tried it again to no avail. Going to try the last thing you recommended and see if that works.

Turned off the user switching plugin, see that one email address is associated with the network admin, logged out and logged back in as the network admin and tried to set up the site again as user “tonyzeoli” – network admin email is djtonyz (at) net…com.

    Still won’t take.

I changed the network admin email to the webmaster email address and that didn’t work either.

Did you go to the Network Settings page for adding domains and try there?

    it’s off of example.com/wp-admin/network/

    Look under settings ??

    Thread Starter Tony Zeoli

    (@tonyzeoli)

Yes, I can add the site ID = 46 and the domain avlhms.com that way and that’s fine, but the site still redirects to Netmix.co and not AVLHMS.com when I click on the Admin for netmix.co/avlhms

Wow! Okay, so instead of using an existing super admin on the network to register the domain for the new site under Tools > Domain Mapping for that site, I used another user name other than “webmaster” and “tonyzeoli” which were the existing superadmins for the network. I made “djtonyz” a superadmin first and then set that email address as the email address for that site and voila, it worked. For some reason, it wouldn’t let me use the current superadmin accounts to link the domain to the new site in the network, but once I set a new user for that domain it worked. Man…talk about a pain. Okay, I’ll mark this resolved.

Is it that an existing super admin cannot be an admin on a new domain or register that new domain against the site under the Tools > Domain Mapping panel?

    Thanks for the support guys.

I’ve had the same issue, and just managed to resolve it now with the resources discussed here.

Any ever head of subliminal mp3s?
