cannot activate plugins

  • I have downloaded several plugins and have transferred them from local site to remote site. I can see the content of the plugin being uploaded on my FTP server and then showing that it has been uploaded , but none of them are showing up on my blog plugins.!
    can anyone please tell me what could be wrong?
    I have uploaded before with no problem, so I am mystified as to what is going on?

  • One of two possibilities:

    The wp-content, wp-content/plugins, your specific plugin folder under wp-content/plugins needs ‘higher’ permissions such as 777 (see Changing File Permissions).

    You are getting the plugin files uploaded incorrectly (into the wrong location). For example, a plugin called my-plugin gets put in wp-content/plugins/my-plugin/my-plugin folder. That’s one subfolder too many. [[See Managing Plugins, Installing Plugins).
