Cannot access wp-admin after updating to 2.4.4

I know you said it cannot be disabled, but do they have caching? It sounds like the version option or transient is not being cleared as it should.

They say there’s no caching on the server side. Isn’t there anything I could at least comment on the code? Or force the version option to update somehow?

Do you have database access?

Could you look in the options table and tell me the value of the option named _transient_wc_activation_redirect

No; the page is only redirected there if _transient_wc_activation_redirect is set.

What is the full URL after redirect?

If its not in the DB, it may be that the host is using memcached to store transient data and this is not being cleared.

Ok. Lets see whats stored since you cannot get in anyway.

Add:

var_dump(get_transient( '_wc_activation_redirect' ) );
exit;

See what is output to the page. Let me know this.

The remove the code you just added and change:

delete_transient( '_wc_activation_redirect' );

To be:

set_transient( '_wc_activation_redirect', 0 );
delete_transient( '_wc_activation_redirect' );

See if it resolves the issue.

Then I added set_transient, but with no luck, still same problem.

Ok. delete_transient should remove the transient – it should not be returning 1.

You say its not in your database table. Can you check again.

if its definitely not there we need you to check to see if:

a) you’re using a caching plugin
or b) your hosting is storing transients elsewhere such as memcache.

if this is the case, its not handling delete_transient or set_transient correctly causing the loop.

a) Don’t use a caching plugin.
b) How can I be sure they a storing transients? They say they don’t use memcache.

Can you also check in your db for the values of:

woocommerce_version
woocommerce_db_version
