I have just upgraded WordPress and have downloaded the Border theme from Pixelgrade. I have been in touch with their support but they cannot help. When I want to access my website from the admin page I only have ‘TEST’ on the page but nothing else.

Could anyone help with this please or at least direct me towards a solution.

    Many thanks,

    Sara

  • Try switching to the default theme, i.e, Twenty Fifteen and see if the website still displays “TEST”.

    The can be many causes.
May be, the developers of that theme accidently make the page die before execution in any file or something like that. Turn ‘WP_DEBUG’ to true in wp-config.php and see what happen and let me know the update. ??

    Hi Sara,

    You have access to:
    https://sarastrawson.photography/wp-login.php

Try login in and see what happens. If you get access to back end, then turn off all your plugins and see if that works. If it works, then it is one of your plugins and then you have to turn on one by one and check, to find which one is causing the issue.

If that doesnt work, then it might be somehting in your functions.php file or theme… try changing the theme first, maybe that will help you find the root of the problem.

    GOod luck

Thank you everyone. Very much appreciate the help.

I have tried a different theme and logged out and back in again. I have turned off all the plugins – still no luck.

Mithu – I am being a dunce here – long day at work! – but where do I find wp-config.php? I know I should know this – I am sure I do but I can’t find it just now. This is the only thing I haven’t tried yet.

    Many thanks again.

    Sara

In the root folder of your wordpress installation is wp-config.php. Usually accessed through FTP, but there might be plugins that will allow you to edit it too.

Also look for debug plugins, there are a bunch out there.

Thanks for that Caio, of course it is. I will have a look but will probably leave it until the morning. Long day and don’t want to do something that will make things worse tonight!

    All the best,

    Sara

I have been in touch with their support but they cannot help.

Did they give you the reason why they can’t help?
They have the access to its code for this is their theme. Forum volunteers are not given access to commercial products.

When I want to access my website from the admin page

You mean when you want to “preview”? Please give more details.

I only have ‘TEST’ on the page but nothing else.

    “Test”? please elaborate.

    – Have you checked the error logs on your server for a more specific error message? If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.
