• Resolved chinkchink

    (@chinkchink)

Installed SSL this morning with the help of my host’s tech support (HostGator), I can no longer access the site without logging in.

This URL used to take all visitors, logged in or otherwise, to the intended home page of the site:
    https://cittapartnership.net/AEMAweb/
Now it shows the default under-construction page of my theme.

This URL still takes me to the login page:
    https://cittapartnership.net/AEMAweb/wp-admin/

and once I logged in as the admin of the site, I can access all pages from both front- and back-end.

Any suggestions on how to correct this?

    thanks

  • Perhaps you need to go back to your hosts about this. It would seem that your SSL changes weren’t complete.

I got on the forum because I was told by HostGator that it is a WordPress issues… despite of the fact that I don’t really believe them, I am not sure what to say to them to show that it is not a WP problem, any suggestion what I should tell them?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thanks, will try as suggested and report back

found the problem, it’s the theme… some settings in it somehow got reset back to default… things are working again once I restored my theme settings from the backup.

Thank you much for pointing me to the right direction
