• Hi, as an administrator I fiddled with the theme code (I know, my bad), and now I can no longer see or log into my site.
I get the error: ParseError thrown
syntax error, unexpected ‘}’, expecting end of file
I know I have to go to the hosts cpanel and fix the file there (themes/functions.php), but I cannot access the cpanel as the cpanel administrator won’t give me access or fix the problem.
Is there another way I can fix this please?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Do you have FTP access? If so, you could upload a clean copy of functions.php to your theme to replace the one you broke. If you don’t have FTP or access via the hosting control panel, you’re out of luck.

Unfortunately I don’t have FTP access either. Oh dear, seems I am out of luck. Thanks anyway.

If all else fails, can I start again by opening a new account under the same site name?

I don’t understand what you mean by opening a new account. Your site is down and you cannot do anything on it, even open a new account. Why can’t you get FTP access?

Our cpanel administrator has gone rogue and is refusing us access. I have contacted the host company directly to help us gain assess but still waiting on them. Another problem is we have no documents that proves the site is ours (all in the rogue administrator’s hands) so the host will be reluctant to give us access.

    Who’s paying for the hosting?

The church – RCCG – (owner of the site – on an annual basis), but it was paid by the rogue administrator, so there is no proof that the church paid it. But I will ask them to double check to see if there are any receipts.

Do you have access to the domain registration and DNS? If so, then I’d suggest going down two paths:

    1. Start building a new site. If you have backups from the current one, that should be pretty easy. If not, we’ll, you’ll get good at copying/pasting. As soon as the new site is reasonable ready to go, change your DNS to point to the new hosting.

    2. Your church must have a lawyer available. Have your lawyer contact the admin.

This isn’t a WP problem — you’re living in someone else’s house and they no longer want you as a guest.

Hi, thanks for your advice. I understand it isn’t a WP problem. Was initially asking if there was another way to access the site so I could fix my problem.
    Thanks again!
