I want to update my site to 4.0 but thought I’d do a quick backup first. I installed UpdraftBackup Plus via the Plugins>Add New and it installed/activated properly. However, when I click on the settings (either via the Settings menu or via Plugins listing), the browser just hangs. I have waited up to 5 minutes but nothing happens. I deactivated and deleted the plugin and installed it via FTP but had the same result. There is no log file in the /wp-content/plugins/updraftplus folder.

I would like to use this plugin but at this point I’m stymied! I can provide a WordPress debug log if you think that would help but are there other things to try first?

    Hi dbinbrea,

That sounds like it would be a web hosting issue – when pages just hang, that suggests there’s something in between your webserver and your PC that’s acting as a proxy, and filtering the page. Whatever it is, it needs someone who is on the same network link to be able to look at it. If you ask your web hosting company if they can load the page, and if not to investigate, then that should be a good way forward.

    Best wishes,
    David
