Cannot access permalink panel page and site down!

    Hi … I’ve had my fare share of htaccess problems but this one gives me no other choice but to ask for some help! A site I have made a while back has been down for the past few hours. Pages won’t load untill i get a 500 error.

    The client says nothing has been touched and when I try accessing the permalink page in the admin it wont load either. All the rest loads fine.

    Any idea on what the problem could be? thanks.

    if nothing has been touched maybe you can ask your host support. Maybe they re-configuring their server.

    It’s what I thought at first but it seems that nothing has changed on their side either. I’ll keep this open if anyone has other ideas.

    I think the problem comes from the htaccess file. The strange thing is that the permalink settings page itself won’t load.

    What’s in your htaccess then? Have you tried deleting/renaming it temporarily (if you’ve made other customisations, keep a copy), then trying resaving your Permalinks… assuming it’ll let you, so WordPress generates a fresh htaccess.

    Try uploading a fresh copy of WordPress from a new download:
