So I’ve been trying to put the finishing touches on my site and have grown increasingly brave in dabbling in the main css stylesheet of my theme(WYNN, the latest version) as well as a few PHP files. I was successful deleting some unwanted elements via a PHP file for a page so i thought I would try remove an element on another, my cart, that was connected to my woo commerce plug in.
Now I’m not totally naive about code, I did manage to get through what seemed like, a mountain of lynda tutorials on css, html etc. When I tried to save the changes on my dashboard through the code editor something went wonky. From then on, when i try to get to my dashboard or site, I only get the infamous ‘blank white screen’.
I backtracked, opened up my Cpanel and replaced the file i thought i may have corrupted, I deleted and replaced the whole plug-in. I used an FTP to do a clean re-install of wordpress(except my wp.config.php + wp.content folder of course), and i am still looking at the white screen. I wish it had something to say to me, only sits there, impossible to read, blank expression.
Any thoughts or suggestions about what I can do from here?

  • I would use FTTP and re install a clean copy of the plugins you were messing with. If you made a change to teh theme, replace that too.

and aafter you get it working, do a complete backup (database AND files) before moving on

yes, it was a corrupt plug-in,( i thought i deleted it in a directory but there was a duplicate in another that was the target file) although I did lose a lot of ground, probably got a little too ambitious in my attempt to troubleshoot and lost, all, yes, all of my plug-ins. I do have wp2db as well as the regular backup that sends a file to my e-mail. Any suggestions on how I may recover these settings?

never mind, found them, the only irritating thing is that my color & typography settings were reset, but I’m grateful I can log in again. Thanks for your advice interweb forum.
