Cannot Access Login Page – Redirect Incorrect

  • Hello, I was attempting to create some sort of client dashboard using various plugins (i.e. User Registration, Force Login.) In doing so I accidently changed the subdirectory for the wp-admin/wp-login page and now the whole site has lost access to the WP dashboard and content.

    The wp-admin redirects through a subdirectory “login” which needs to be removed. Disabling plugins and theme hasn’t worked, also creating a new .htaccess hasn’t fixed anything either. I read somewhere that the functions.php file within the used theme folder may contain what I’ve been looking for however I haven’t been able to find any lines within it that has site URL information.

    This is what the url looks like if I try to access wp-admin/login

    @nheiderer Did you rename the subdirectory name in your filesystem, or did installing one of those plugins cause this issue? If it happened after activating/using the plugins, would you be able to try removing those plugins through FTP?

    If you made changes to the filenames, you might want to reinstall the WordPress core files to get everything named the way it’s expected again.

    Finally, you may want to check your .htaccess file and verify that it hasn’t been modified and looks similar to this. Hoping you get things resolved quickly.

    @bengreeley Thanks for the reply,

    I believe it was changed within User Registration, but also could have been changed in the General WP Settings, I honestly cannot remember unfortunately. “.htaccess” looks normal, I have created a duplicate of the old file and remade the default one to no avail. I was having issues using SSH to access the server but have since resolved so I will look into replacing some of the core WP files.
