Cannot Access Dashboard after 5.0 Update

After the update to 5.0, my home page has massive white space between each section (a theme issue I suppose) but more importantly, I cannot access the dashboard/backend. I have purged all caches and browser, logged out, logged back in, and anytime I use any link to try to get to the dashboard I get a “No Update Required” page. Using the domain and /wp-admin redirects now to https://www.auburnmassdaily.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost-new.php with the above message and stating Your WordPress database is already up to date.

do you have access to your files via ftp or via webhosting control panel to see if the there *might* be a “.maintenance” file that might be interfering?
