The main error: too many redirects. After an attempt to update from 5.4 to 5.5. Locked out of admin area. Plugins don’t work.

They recommend to have PHP 7.4 or up. I have only 7.2 MariaDB is also below a recommended 10.1. I have 10.0xxx

Don’t like slow support service. Planning to migrate. But, before I go, the site should be updated at last, which I haven’t done for about a year.

O my goodness! I finally updated my site. What helped me? I set permissions for all files (644, except .htaccess and wp-config with their special permissions) and directories (755). Perhaps, some files and directories had had wrong permissions.
