Hi – total newbie at this – be kind & use no big words! ??

I want to remove the search bar from the header. Is this possible?

Also – is it possible to change the colors of the wording on the pages on the sidebar? I would like the parent pages one color and all others a different color to help distinguish them better.

Questions:
Is your parent (main) theme “Canard”? If so, then your child theme name should be “Canard Child”.
And the “Author URI:” will be your sites’ address, beause you are the one creating the child theme.
Theme URI: will be your sites’ address also, beause you are the one creating the child theme.
“Text Domain:” will ne “canard-child”
Make sure before everything there is /* and after is */
Then post is here.

Rather than Notepad, there are many free code editors for Windows you could try. Sublime is one:

Thanks for the help on this everyone. I threw in the towel and changed themes. I knew I would mess things up and I sure did! I got a parse error- thankfully even though Host Gator doesn’t deal in this stuff, I got a great CS agent that knew coding and got me back into my theme. Then I changed the whole darn thing. It’s much better now anyways!

It’s great that THIS place exists to help us computer ‘dummies’ and you all take your time to lead us by the hand. Thanks so much!
