• Hi there,

I have a question about the functionality of your plugin. I create a website right now (Theme Twenty Twelve), which is part of present to a friend of mine. The most important is that I need a map on the front page. This map is different than OpenStreetMaps as I want to use my own polygons, which I create with a GIS software. Now your Plugin should be able to do the following:

1.) It should be able to let me import these self-made shapefiles. It can be happen that this is a big data set of many MB as I will probably have more than 250 polygons. Perhaps I will also put an image inside too, which also can be very huge. So your plugin should be able to include such huge files on the map. I can change my shape files to KML files if necessary.

2.) Users should be able to click on each single polygon. When doing so, a popup window should be appearing, which includes normal texts, one image and a link to another website or another page on my website.

3.) Users shouldn’t be allow to zoom in or out too far. So there should be the possibility for me as an admin to change these settings.

4.) The user should also be restricted to the area of a particular country. As my polygons will represent counties of this country, my map would be only there. If the user tries to move beyond the country, the map should stop this so that the user only can stay at my map area. To better understand what I mean in point 3 and 4 here is a link of a code which is able to do this in google maps:

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/3818016/google-maps-v3-limit-viewable-area-and-zoom-level

5.) Other features beside my polygons shouldn’t be shown on the map. For instance by including a background of a solid color behind my polygons but in front of the OpenStreetMap content.

I hope your plugin is able to do all of these points. If not, is it possible to include all of them in a future release until march? The reason is that I need the present until then.

I hope you can help me.

    Jose81,

you have a cleare idea and specified it very well. Unfortunatelly the WP OSM Plugin does not cover your requests and the focus for 2015 is the integration of OpenLayers 3.
I do not know all the WordPress mapping plugins. Probably the best way is to implement a plugin just with these requirements. Consider also the maintenance. There are OpenLayers and Leaflet libraries to realise it.

Although it’s not implemented with the WP OSM Plugin I am looking forward to see your page.
