Can you do this in WordPress

  • I want to create a WordPress site for distributing several pieces of software that I have written. Now, can I, using one WordPress site, have different users, log in, and download the software. Here is the wrinkle, the users who register on the site will only be able to download the software that they are authorized for. Here is an example:

    Two applications

    1) database app for a non-profit church organization
    2) another database app for a winery

    I don’t want users for the church organization to be able to download the app for the winery. I also don’t want the users who want the winery app to be able to download the app for the church org.

    Is there anyway for one to do this using one WordPress installation? Or should I just have 2 WordPress installations and make it easier?

    Next, is there a plug in that will allow me to display a directory list?

    Yes, it’s possible in one site. I’ve set up a few with fairly secure restrictions on downloadable content. Take a look at the s2member plug in.
