• Just this morning, someone claimed that he saved my blog as an html file, and he’s one of the biggest thieves I know of. Is there any way to prevent people from doing that?

  • Sorry but no. Good general rule of thumb: if you don’t want people copying your content, don’t put it on the web.

Only by making the website one big image or Flash-file, you can prevent such thing.

And believe it or not, I’ve seen pages that are just one big image – text and all!

And? People can still screenscrape that and type up the text of they’re really dedicated.

So if you don’t want it stole, don’t put it online. You can code it to slow down the bots, but you can’t really stop it.

Well, why can’t you use Javascript to trap the events for Save As and Copy? Yes, I know this only works for those who don’t know View Page Source but my client seems to think there’s a lot of those and I’m not sure he isn’t right. I believe a separate page template would have to be created for each page you wanted to do this with. This is possible within the WP theme is it not?
