Can you change the author’s post name (other than by User)?

  • Is there a way to change the author post name without it having to be a user?

    I often use the first few paragraphs of another author’s articles in my blog and then I link back to them, but my name is always as the author on this post.

    It wold be great if I could mention them as the author. Is there some technical override that can be done?
