I’ve recently discovered the Page Builder plugin from SiteOrigin, which allows you to easily create complex layouts on pages and posts, and also to use widgets within the main content area. I also have a colleague working on a site that uses the Layout Builder plugin from Elegant Themes.

These plugins replace the main content area of a page or post with content designed elsewhere using the plugin, and therefore the Yoast SEO Plugin simply reports that the pages contain no content. There is also a previous posting about this matter.

Is there anything that can be done to persuade the SEO plugin to include the content produced using these plugins?

    Thanks.

  • One solution I can think of is for Page Builder to just dump all text content into the post_content and let SEO plugins, search plugins, etc handle things from there.

I’ve downloaded Yoast SEO, so I’ll test and see if this is a viable solution. If it is, I’ll add it as a feature in the next update of Page Builder.

Yup, copying the Page Builder content over to the standard content helps Yoast SEO work with the content. It’s also a nice fallback if anyone ever decides to stop using Page Builder. Their content will remain partially intact.

I’ll push an update (1.1.5) in the next couple days. After some testing.

And thanks for using my Page Builder plugin ??

    Excellent, thanks.

I had thought of simply copying it all into there, but it’s a little fiddly if the layout’s complex as it’s scattered amongst the different widgets.

Thanks for such a quick response, and of course, an answer that should resolve the issue.

I’ve upgraded the Page Builder plugin, in fact I’m now at the latest version 1.2, but I don’t think the enhancement you mentioned in version 1.1.5 (Text content of Page Builder is now saved to post_content to improve compatibility with SEO/search plugins.) is working, or at least helping with the SEO Plugin issue.

On one particular page, for example, I’ve got no text in the standard WordPress content panel (Visual & Text both blank), and a number of widgets in the Page Builder area, but the (Yoast) WordPress SEO plugin reports: “There are 1 words contained in the body copy. This is far too low and should be increased.”, along with a few other messages that suggest it is seeing no content.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks,

    Paul Cutcliffe

You need to update or publish a page before the content is copied across to the post_content. On my side, Yoast SEO is picking up and analyzing the content.

You should be able to see the content if you switch over to the Visual or Text tabs. Is it there?

I have updated the pages since upgrading, and no, none of the content is visible in the Visual or text tabs.

Any idea what could be wrong?

Very strange. Do you mind dropping an email to [email protected] – I might need to get a temporary admin account to take a look at what’s going on (if you don’t mind).

    Hi Greg

Do you have everything you need to take a look at the site for me?

Let me know if there’s anything else you need from me.

    Thanks,

    Paul Cutcliffe

Just incase anyone else was having this issue, Paul and I managed to get to the bottom of it. A fix will be coming in 1.2.2 of Page Builder.

I can confirm that both my sites which were experiencing this issue now work as you described, that is, the content is automatically copied from the Page Builder tab into the Visual amd Text tabs, and is therefore picked up by the SEO plugin.

Thanks Greg – really appreciated. ??

Hi guys I’m having the same issue with my website (www.impactbottle.com) – do I have to copy the content from each “widget” area in my page manually and dump it in the visual or text tab? Or is there an automatic way for the content to be copied?

Awesome plugin by the way… thanks!

    Cheers!

Hi Zak! If you’re using the latest version, everything should be copying over automatically. What version are you using?

Hi, I love your plugin, simply for saving my time with custom block layout name that I don’t have to remember anymore.

Well I have a question for you GREG. I have version 1.1.6 and I’m having the same issue, but why I can’t simple hit UPDATE plugin, it doesn’t seem to be in WP repository. Am I correct? Is it something you guys are working on, or your plugin is OFF WP repository as a free plugin?

    Thanks.
