Can Yoast create multiple XML sitemaps?

Thanks for your question about multilingual sitemaps.

The Yoast SEO plugin does not have a way to parse different sitemaps for different languages. However, we thank you for suggesting a new feature for one of our plugins. We’re not working on it now, but there is a feature request for this, so our developers can consider this when planning updates.

We add all the languages to the same sitemap. So all posts (regardless of language) will appear on the post sitemap. Doing it this way will not hurt the SEO or how Google crawls your site.

Hi, thank you for the answer. Unfortunately, we have a problem with google not correctly indexing the site, as it canonicalizes one of the localized versions to another.

And what about hreflang attributes in sitemap? https://searchengineland.com/how-to-implement-the-hreflang-element-using-xml-sitemaps-123030 Is it possible to set up with Yoast?
