Can WP generate really static pages?

    Evidently WP uses terms like static and static pages to mean not-really static. Is there a way to get WP to generate really static pages with real addresses in real directories with no embedded PHP?

    With the exception of plugins that create cached versions of dynamic pages, not as far as I know.
