• I haven’t downloaded wordpress yet because I want to make sure it can meet my needs before I do so.

Basically what I need is this: I want to create a site with 5-15 users that can log in and post in their blogs and then have their posts show up on a central page in “latest posts” section, where you can choose to “read more” and go directly to their blog. I’d also like it if they can comment on eachothers blogs and have their usernames in the comments they leave to link directly back to their blogs.

Is wordpress a blogging system that will allow more than one user to log in? If so..

Is it also a blogging system that will allow more than one blog using the same database? If so..

Is it a system that will allow me to create a “recently posted” section that posts teasers for the 5 most recent posts?

Thanks for any information..I know drupal can already do what I need but I’m not a big fan of drupal because it’s not made specifically for blogging, and the more userfriendly the better..it seems wordpress is pretty user friendly.

    Yes.

No, not the way you have explained it.
You CAN have more than one install of WP inside the same db, but they wont be linked in any way, and it would require more than one install.

    Yes.

You need to look at wpMU, or b2evolution, which at this point is more mature than mu.

Awesome. That’s exactly the answer I needed. Thanks for the response.
