Can wordpress build a basic website?

  • Hi,

    I need to create a basic website with-
    1 homepage
    3 Blogs
    1 Discussion Board
    1 page for flash games

    I’ve registered a domain, have server space and have downloaded wordpress. Now is it possible for me to create a website like the one mentioned above?

  • If you have WP installed – you have a “homepage”.
    WP means only 1 (one) blog, unless you install it 3 times.
    There are several forum scripts that were “integrated” with WP; search for it.

    Do you really need 3 blogs? Or do you need three categories within a blog?

    Putting flash games up might require you to write the code into a page template. Just trying to post the code to display the flash into a wordpress editable page might not work. But the good news is that creating a custom page template with your flash code is fairly simple.

    For a traditional homepage, there are plenty of template out there

    Install WordPress in a folder called blog

    and install a discussion board

    What you’re after is not a “basic website” at all. By the overwhelming majority of opinion, a basic website typically consists of a home page, an about us page, a products or services page and a contact us page. WP will do all that easily, as well provide a blogging platform, provided you only want one blog. There’s a couple of forum plugins, see here for more:
