can widget cause high cpu usage?

  • I am trying to identify why my site is causing a high cpu usage. I have 2500-6000 daily unique visitors.
    It has been going on for a while and I have tried to solve it using w3 cache, but it has not solved the problem. Must say that I am not sure everything is configured correctly in w3 cache.
    I am trying with deactivating plugins to see if any of them are causing problems, but have not been able to identify the problem.
    So I am think if the widgets can cause high cpu usage?
    I have:
    login/logout widget
    Several text widgets with ads
    1 RSS feed from another blog.
    Search
    Latest entries in mingle forum

    Just to mention plugins as well:
    Akismet
    All in one seo pack
    codestyling localization
    cool video gallery
    cubepoints
    jetpack by wordpress.com
    mingle forum
    official statcounter plugin
    p3 (plugin performance profiler)
    s2member framwork (deactivated)
    SI captcha anti-spam
    w3 total cache
    wp-mail-smtp

    found out that cool video gallery was causing the problem. All users with explorer had problems with the site and cpu was at max almost all the time. deactivated and uninstalled cool video gallery and this fixed everything. users with explorer had no problems and cpu usage on server dropped a lot.
