    Hi there,

We have a shop that’s been going for years and have many existing clients. We’re now connecting WooCommerce to Mailchimp, but we don’t want to import our existing clients into Mailchimp; only allow new clients from this point onwards to opt-in. I’ve been through the plugin’s documentation and the forum here, but it’s not clear to me whether what we want to achieve is a posibility.

We already have a paid Mailchimp plan, but we’re concerned that adding many existing clients as contacts to our audience, would impact our plan limit. It’s my understanding from the documentation that “WooCommerce customers who haven’t signed up for marketing emails will appear in the Transactional portion of your audience“, and as far as I’m aware these contacts would could as non-subscribed contacts, but would still count towards our plan limit.

Would you be able to help us clarify this?

    Thank you very much,

    Dave

    Good day @dvaer

At the moment there isn’t an explicit option for preventing all previous customers to Mailchimp no matter what. However the closest way to accomplish is by using our Sync existing contacts only setting that is found prior to initial sync starting.

What this setting does is only WooCommerce customers who are already in your Mailchimp audience to sync. So in a way if say 0 customers are in the Mailchimp Audience, then 0 customers will sync.

Note that ther Sync existing contacts only setting is only available after disconnecting and reconnecting and prior to starting the initial sync.

Hopefully this helps with decrease the concerns of an increased billing plan. Of course feel free to reach back for any further questions.

Thank you Jordan, that makes sense. Will try this.
