We have used Woocommerce Paypal Checkout for years and have settled into it and have no desire to switch to Paypal Payments because it is more complicated, unproven and we do not agree with the idea of offering instant credit at the point of purchase.

My question is …. can we continue with the old PayPal Checkout – even though it will not get updated?

If it’s going to be killed off crippled then, we will go Stripe or some other payment solution.
    Pleas provide your considered response.

  • Hey @cullachie !

I am Orhan from WooCommerce support. I completely understand where you are coming from, certainly settling in with a payment gateway and understanding its in and outs can provide a sense of calm familiarity and confidence.

Unfortunately, the WooCommerce PayPal Standard, PayPal Chekout, and several other PayPal related plugins will indeed be discontinued down the line.

Continuing with a plugin that is not being actively supported and updated can lead to other issues. Since you are not partial towards WooCommerce PayPal Payments, indeed going through our other payment gateway options will be the best option for you. You can find them here: https://woocommerce.com/product-category/woocommerce-extensions/payment-gateways/

I want to also highlight the WooCommerce Payments gateway which is a wonderful payment solution put together by the WooCommerce team directly. It is integrated with Stripe as well: https://woocommerce.com/payments/

Please let us know so we can help you out further, thanks!
