Can users choose to REGISTER for one of TWO different roles? Author/Contributor
-
I want to have two classes of members, one class = native WP ‘contributor’ role, the other = native WP ‘author’ role.
Is this possible?
How would I do that?I tried having two registration pages, with two different registration FORMS- one set to each role. A new person could register as either one.
The main website.com/register page works fine. when I go from editing that page to “preview” I see a flash of the URL “website.com/wp-admin/wp-admin.php”, then it goes to website.com/register and displays fine.
The second ‘register’ page is website.com/register-2, but that gives website.com//lostpassword__trashed/?error=invalidkey
I set up a new UM role =”author” and set “Assign role to form” to author.
On UM >settings>User, there’s “Default New User Role”
I just realized there’s only one choice here, but the txt under the dropdown says,
“Select the default role that will be assigned to user after registration If you did not specify custom role settings per form.”
*****************************
So is there a setting to do this?
Thanks!I understand that I can selectively show two different forms on one page (eg profile) to logged in members of different classes by posting two shortcodes on the page, but this is for new visitors to the site. I’m asking for much more information from the authors.
