Can user register themselves as an admin?

Hello, we are currently using Ultimate Member and looking to switch as they have a vulnerability with hacking. Users are able to use the registration form and somehow set themselves as admin.
Is that possible with your plugin? Even if it is, does this allow the hacker to automatically be logged in or are we able to manually approve/reject them first before they can get access?
