can upload but can’t post pics; admin screen looks buggy

  • I installed WP recently to my existing website — to https://www.domain.com/blog. The WordPress files I unzipped assumed that I named the directory /wordpress — I wanted it to be /blog — so, through DreamWeaver, I did a search & replace to change the path to /wordpress to /blog in all of the files.

    I then transferred all files to my host & ran the wp-install.php with no problems.

    Everything works great — but I can’t post pics. When I click the “send to editor” button — nothing happens. Also, in looking for an answer to this problem, I’ve noticed that my admin screen doesn’t look like the examples posted. My admin screen is very plain — and the image transfer box looks screwy — the thumbnails that I’ve uploaded scroll underneath the image toolbar and through the top of the box — and the image toolbar looks uneven & buggy.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • I’m also running my WordPress blog in the /blog directory, but I did not change any of the default WordPress files for that.

    I uploaded the WordPress files to the blog subdirectory on my server. Then on the Admin page with Options I set 2 options, the URL for WordPress and for the blog both to https://kwebble.com/blog. That’s enough to access my blog at that address.

    Gads. Delete that mess and start over. WordPress doesn’t care what the directory name is — upload the files to where you want ’em. There’s no need to edit code for this!

    OK — when I first did this, I unzipped the file — it automatically creates a /wordpress directory. I changed the name of the directory to /blog. Without making code changes — I uploaded the files to the server, but I am unable to run the wp-install.php. That is why I ran a code search & replace.

    I suggest to solve the problems with wp-install.php without changing the code.
    You don’t tell what the exact problems are but did you create a wp-config.php with the correct connection settings for the database?
