    Hi.
I need to learn how to maintain but do not want to break our club website that is using WordPress and Elementor.
The best way I can think of is to learn and practice on my own PC as I would with any other program and save it to my PC. That way if I screw it up it would not matter. I do not want to pay for hosting as it will never be used online.

So, can I install a free WordPress and Elementor on my PC to learn on?
    Thanks for any advice.

    Regards
    Alan.

  • Hi,

I am not sure if I understood you correctly.

If you are referring to downloading WordPress and elementor to use offline as a program, at the moment it’s not possible.

What you can do is use software like Local, the website (WordPress) won’t be live but you will be able to watch the live view changes, you just need to create a new website.

    Hi.Thank you for your reply.

“If you are referring to downloading WordPress and elementor to use offline as a program, at the moment it’s not possible.” That was what I was hoping for!

Using the localwp link would enable me to start to learn how to add content and navigate to a ‘website’ that would not be live?
I do not want to risk our clubs website and really just need something to practice on.

    Hi,

Yes, using the local option will enable you to upload the website to an “offline” website, you can, however, create a live link if you want someone to see it, it is a bit restricted with a password but it’s an option.

The local will be the safe way you seek.
