I see that the user subscribed and GDPR status is updated when the user is viewed in the backend or when the user views their own profile to update their subscribed status.

But is the user data in WordPress updated automatically if the user data is changed in Mailchimp?

also noticed that the admin view shows the status from Mailchimp live, but doesn’t update the usermeta for mailchimp_woocommerce_gdpr_fields until the profile is saved. Is that correct?

the mailchimp_woocommerce_is_subscribed field IS updated from mailchimp though, so is this related to allowing Profile webhook updates?

@technicalx yes it should be kept in sync because we are pulling the data FROM Mailchimp to render / show these values. Are you experiencing anything otherwise? If so you might need to open up a ticket with your Mailchimp support team to pass along some info in a private channel. Please let us know how you would like us to help troubleshoot.

Also – we have an option to enable “remote support” in the plugin, so if you would like to turn that on it would probably be a good idea to help with your issues as we pass along info back and forth.

Yes I am seeing missing data, I will attempt support.

I am not seeing the GDPR settings being synced automatically, UNLESS the page is being viewed.

Eg. it wont sync GDPR settings to website DB after a customer edits their preferences on the mailchimp pages via an emailed link. It does sync the “subscribed” flag to 1 or 0, but not the gdpr stuff until the customer/admin views the customer record live in the website.

So this means that a database export is always wrong, for instance when doing an phone campaign through a 3rd party who wants a DB export.

@technicalx ok I understand what you’re saying. You would like these values to be saved as well to a user meta field that can be exported just like the subscriber status. That’s actually not a bad idea – but the real reason that it’s not currently working that way is due to the fact that these settings can be updated through other means – making Mailchimp the source of truth for this value which is why we’re “loading on demand” currently.

I can see us adding this feature in a future release. It’s really not hard to do at all and if it would help folks in any way, we’re glad to do it. As of today there’s no timeline on this feature but will keep you posted, and in the meantime I would recommend doing an export from the Mailchimp list to accomplish that task.

Hi @technicalx, thanks again for reaching out. As @ryanhungate noted we’ll be happy to pass this suggestion along to the team for consideration. I can’t be sure if or when it’ll be implemented, but we’ll be glad to keep you posted on any new developments.

We’ve noted your feature request regarding automatic GDPR syncing and recommend the current workaround of performing an export directly from Mailchimp for accurate records. I’ll go ahead and close this out for now to avoid any duplication and update this post or our changelog in the future if this is released.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any other help. Thanks again for your feedback!
